Dr. Mohammed Smadi

Dr. Mohammed Smadi brings over two decades of technical innovation and business leadership in location-based operational intelligence. As CEO of Penguin Location Services, he leads the company’s vision to transform healthcare facilities, enterprise buildings, and industrial environments into smarter, more efficient spaces. His work champions AI-driven analytics that deliver actionable insights—reducing operational inefficiencies, improving patient safety, and elevating care experiences.

Before founding Penguin, Dr. Smadi launched Karmatix, a pioneering telematics and loyalty platform where he coined the term “road as a service.” He also served as a Principal Researcher at BlackBerry, enhancing Wi-Fi Quality of Experience, and co-founded ErgoWiFi. He holds a PhD, M.A.Sc., and a dual B.Eng. & Management degree from McMaster University, where he also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
