As the former Division Chief Medical Officer at HCA Gulf Coast Division (Texas), overseeing 17 acute care hospitals, he successfully led the division’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, managing complex challenges with agility and resilience. Under his leadership, the division achieved significant improvements, including an 83% enhancement in National Quality Rating (Leapfrog) agency grade performance, a 38% reduction in risk-adjusted mortality and complications, a 72% decrease in serious safety events, and a 67% reduction in healthcare-associated infections.
Dr. Ali-Khan’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident from his early career achievements, including co-founding a successful hospitalist practice and developing DASH (Direct Admit System for Hospitals), an innovative solution for automating direct hospital admissions. His groundbreaking invention received the prestigious 2012 Award for Innovation from “Today’s Hospitalist,” impacting over 100,000 patients and generating $76 million in revenue for customer hospitals.
As the Founder and CEO of Averose Medical, Dr. Ali-Khan drove positive change, offering consulting services focused on optimizing clinical operations for healthcare organizations in the value-based care environment. Subsequently, he also worked at International SOS, a company contracted to the US Department of State, as the Chief Medical Officer to operationalize healthcare operations for their base in Qatar housing Afghan Refugees.
