Joewayne Asuncion

Joewayne Lord Rey Alvin Asuncion is a seasoned healthcare quality and patient safety leader currently serving as the Acting Director of Risk Management and Assistant Director of Quality and Risk at American Hospital Dubai.

With over 20 years of leadership experience, he has been instrumental in advancing healthcare standards, facilitating major accreditations such as JCI and CBAHI, and driving high-impact safety and quality improvement initiatives.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Healthcare Management from Notting Hill College (UK), and an MBA from the Swiss Business School in the Middle East. He is certified in Patient Safety (CPSO) and Health Risk Management (CPHRM) by the American Institute of Healthcare Quality and is a trained Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems with specialization in international hospital accreditation standards. Most recently, he completed a PMI-authorized PMP Exam Prep course in late 2024.

Mr. Asuncion leads multiple initiatives in clinical audits, quality, patient safety and risk management and building a culture of safety, while actively promoting continuous professional development for clinical teams. His efforts have been recognized in regional platforms, including being featured as one of the Top Filipino Healthcare Professionals in the Middle East awarded by the Filipino Times.
