Marco Giovannoli is an aeronautical engineer, author, and global advocate for stroke survivors. After an ischemic stroke in 2022 transformed his life, he turned adversity into advocacy through courage, curiosity, and emotional intelligence. His memoir, Miracle in the Desert, shares a raw and inspiring journey of recovery, offering hope to survivors and caregivers alike.
Blending his engineering mindset with lived experience, Marco champions innovation in neurorehabilitation, rethinking how therapies are measured and delivered. He collaborates with the World Stroke Organization, MENASO, and Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health, and contributes to Etihad Airways’ Accessibility Working Group to enhance inclusion for People of Determination.
As co-founder of Abu Dhabi’s first peer-led stroke support group, he helps build a community where survivors uplift each other. Through his concept of “transcovery”, where transformation meets recovery, Marco inspires others to rediscover purpose and meaning beyond stroke.
